More of THIS in 2025!

A curse is lifting in Serbia. Last June, I traveled to that troubled Balkan nation, with global worker Jason Morrison and a Life Publisher’s team, to observe Light for the Lost-funded resources in action.

The Serbia we visited was thankfully much different than the Serbia of the 1990s. But the people—regardless of their background, religion, or education level—seem to agree that their nation is cursed.

“There is a curse in Serbia, that Serbians will never unite,” said Igor, a Serbian pastor. “We’ve only fought each other and never enjoyed the blessings of unity. But in the church, we see the people finally experiencing unity under Jesus.”

Igor said the “curse” appears to be lifting as he pointed to Serbians’ newfound curiosity and hunger to experience God. It’s as if Serbs want to give Jesus another chance. The Serbian FireBible, launched in November 2023, is a powerful new resource that will help greatly.

“There are so many people, even [Orthodox and Catholic] priests who really want to know God so this resource could really help them,” says Andrej, another pastor connected to the Serbian FireBible.

I had the privilege of handing many Serbians a FireBible, including recovering addicts in the Teen Challenge, local pastors, and new believers. For most, it was their first Bible.

In the village of Konak, we met Ivanka (name changed), a woman who came to faith in Jesus less than a year ago while visiting Germany. When Ivanka learned Jesus was baptized as an adult, she wanted to follow Him in “adult baptism.”

Ivanka returned home to Konak and told the entire village about Jesus’ “adult baptism.” One morning there was a knock on her to be baptized. They told Ivanka they
wanted to follow Jesus the right way and needed her to be their pastor.

Every family in new church in Konak, Serbia, got a copy of the new Serbian FireBible. Previously there was only one Bible in the village.

This Serbain man recently came to faith in Jesus, followed Him in "adult baptism," and now has his first study Bible--a FireBible in his heart language!

It was such a privilege to meet these wonderful new believers in Konak, Serbia, and present each family with a FireBible provided by Light for the Lost funds.

When we arrived, there was only one Bible in the whole group, and it was a worn-out Orthodox version that no one there could understand. That evening, we worshipped and prayed together, and I got to help pass out more than 20 Serbian FireBibles to Ivanka and her people.

What an honor it was to see their smiles and hear their gasps of wonder. Igor is right. The curse is lifting in Serbia. We want to see more of this in 2025!
